I moved to DC to be with my boyfriend a few months back, and despite the not so great weather and the endless hours of job searching, I can still say without a shadow of a doubt that this is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. For the first time since leaving New York City, I finally feel I’ve found a place to call home. I’m loving all the aspects of exploring a new city again from searching for the perfect cup of coffee to decorating our (quite large) built in bookshelf wall. While things are far from perfect, I’m enjoying most those lazy Sundays at home marking pages in my latest cookbook and watching old documentaries on Netflix with my boyfriend all while continuing to work on my little blog. Life is good.

I’m The Cream Of The Crop, I Rise To The Top…

There’s a lot of buzz happening this season about crop tops. While my 18 year old self had no problem strutting my tight tummy to all the boys in the yard back in my early college days, now that I’m about to turn 28 I’m not sure I can rock a midriff look the way I used to. Despite my old age, however, I’m not ready to give up on this bare belly trend just yet. There are two tricks to pulling this off: 1) Pair crop tops with longer skirts or pants so you aren’t showing too much skin. 2) No belly button. Something about a crop top with a belly button showing is a little too Britney Spears “I’m A Slave For You” so hide that old belly ring hole (we all have one!) and show only a couple inches of skin in your midsection.

Poor Little It Girl in Madewell Dress, Madewell Sunglasses and Gap Wedges

If you were to ask me on any given day what my favorite color is, I wouldn’t hesitate in saying it was green. However, it turns out I have very little green in my closet and instead, have managed to make blue 75% of my wardrobe with the addition of this new dress. The fit is perfection, the pockets are magical, and it’s easy to wash which makes a girl who hates to do laundry very happy. I topped off this date night look with matching sunnies and probably the best/most comfortable wedges I have ever owned. So sure green is still my favorite color, but blue is now coming in a very close second.
