I Fell So Fast Can’t Hold Myself Back, High Heels Red Dress All By Yourself Gotta catch my breath

Dress: old Madewell similar vibe at ASOS
Sandals: Jack Rogers | Bag: Madewell
Lipstick: Dolce & Gabbana “Scarlett”
Earrings: Baublebar | Nails: Essie “Marshmallow”

I’ve talked before about the pressures of being a style blogger. To the non-blogger, I know it can sound pretty snotty to say “oh boohoo I don’t own anything new to wear today!” but when your blog is your job, and people come to your site every day to see something new and fresh, the stress can be a lot, specifically on your bank account. Taking my own advice, I decided to say “to hell with that!” and went with an old favorite red dress to share with y’all. I’ve had this Madewell dress at least 4 years, but for some reason it’s never made its way on to my blog. (Or maybe it has? I honestly don’t remember.) So I dug it out from the back of my closet and decided to take it for another spin. Add on my new obsession (the best denim jacket ever) and this old look felt totally new again.

I can see why that red dress is a favourite! It looks so good with the denim jacket. I posted an old, but favourite dress on my blog today, too. It is ok with me not to have new stuff! I love seeing how others get regular use and different looks out of pieces.

I totally understand the need to have new pieces/outfits to show readers. I’ve been trying to combat that myself and have reworn SO many things lately! I honestly don’t even think people notice unless I wear the same item everyday for a week. I actually think some people prefer it when a blogger they follow rewears things (I know I love it when the bloggers I follow rewear items or wear old pieces!).

I feel ya on that pressure and I have to say I’M LOVING that you’re wearing something that’s “older”. I think at the end of the day, it comes down to being inspired by a certain look, even if all the pieces aren’t available anymore. I mean, I’m loving the other red dress you linked to so much that it hardly matters the one you’re wearing isn’t available anymore!

I am seriously so impressed with you! I don’t know how you constantly find new exciting outfits to post about, or even just find a way to mix and match what you already have in a new and creative way! I think the majority of the clothes in my closet have been there for awhile, so it’s great to see a blogger say that you don’t always have to have new things! You’re look is great! I love that denim jacket!

Love this outfit – you look amazing in red! I always feel slightly guilty when I wear old items on the blog because I know readers can get frustrated when it’s not something that’s readily available for them to purchase. So I try to balance those types of posts with new items or at least give them create ideas for ways to wear pieces they might already own. It’s tough, though, and I agree with you about the amount of pressure we feel to constantly be showing new things.

Yeah it’s like I know people want to see me remix my wardrobe, but I know they also want me to show them things they can actually have…it’s definitely a conflict but hopefully my readers have seen I try to balance it all! xoxo Cathy

I’ve had it for so long and still always find somewhere to wear it to…I love pieces like that! xoxo Cathy

That is a really cute dress and red looks great on you, You should wear it more often! Also, a little closet rewind is normal, all of your readers re-wear clothes, why shouldn’t you?. I am laughing because I pulled out an old red dress from the Gap circa 2003 and wore it last week to work with a jean jacket. I get it.

I’m glad you’re talking about this because, as a blog reader, I sometimes also feel the pressure to keep buying new things in order to keep up with new fashion. This is a good reminder for all of us to get creative about using the great items we already have in our closet!

Can’t go wrong with a little red, white and blue. Super cute! I especially love the length and the slight fullness to the skirt of the dress!

Great red dress. Cannot go wrong with denim and red. I totally appreciate that you are putting and “old outfit” out there and it makes me want to go search for a great red dress!

I love that you wore an old dress! I love seeing new, refreshing looks but sometimes it’s even more refreshing to see bloggers repeat pieces or wear older pieces! Especially because then it’s easier to get an idea of how to re-wear our older pieces as well!
