No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems. Blues, What Blues, Hey I Forgot Them…

If there’s one outfit I live in during springtime, it has to be easy denim, a comfortable top and a pair of sandals. Typically my hair is in a ponytail, minimal makeup and I carry the same tote bag just about everywhere. What can I say, I’m a creature of habit. On another late night of online shopping (which really just means placing things into my online cart, not actually pressing the purchase button), I found myself sticking to this uniform with my recent wish lists.

At Home With Poor Little It Girl

Back in November I really got the itch to re-do our apartment. Me and Adam have lived in DC together for 2 years in our small, 750 square foot space, and while I loved it, I was ready for a change. Our apartment was made up of mismatched pieces from my old studio in Atlanta and Adam’s random “boy” furniture from years of bumping around from city to city. I’m not a decorator in any sense, so I gladly partnered with the amazing team at Havenly to help me design our space! I told them the specs of our apartment, what furniture I wanted to keep (bed, coffee table), what I needed (a place for Adam’s record player, a bigger couch) and what I wanted to get rid of (our old end tables and area rug) and Shelby (my designer) worked her magic! I was sent designs of the space and we discussed what I loved and some minor changes and then here we have it, our new space!

One of the most important aspects that I explained to the team at Havenly was wanting a space that worked for both Adam and myself, meaning I didn’t want the apartment to feel too girly or too “staged” for photos. That meant no pink (our favorite color is green) and nothing that felt too feminine. Our wall of built in bookshelves (which the previous owner had installed) needed to be the highlight of the space but still reflect both our personalities. It took a couple months to get everything together (lesson learned: hire painter, don’t try and DIY!) and while the space can still use a few new pieces (we would love to add a leather chair to the living room) I have never been so happy to call this place my home.

Be sure  to check out even more home tour photos and a fun interview I did about our space over on Style Me Pretty!
